End of Year Reflection 2022

Intro

This week we are taking some time for an end-of-the-year reflection. It is important to take a break and give thanks at regular intervals in life, reflect on your past, and look forward. Join us today to learn how to do a proper reflection and how to plan for the coming year!

Point 1: Reflection Steps

1) How did I grow in the past year?

There are many areas of growth that you can look at in your life. Did you grow financially? Socially? Professionally? Make a list of different areas of life [there are lists online, if you need help with this], and see how you have grown in those areas in the past 12 months.

2) Break them down by months.

The first question is a yearly overview. In this second question, look at January first. How did you grow in all areas during those 31 days? Then move on to February. See which months you grew the most in, which months you were stagnant in, and determine why that is the case. Write these down as well.

3) What was the biggest challenge you overcame and the biggest success you achieved?

In the past year, what was the thing you spent the most time and energy on overcoming every month? What was the biggest success in that time period? Write down these monthly highlights. What happened this year that you will look back on in the future?

4) Name the year.

Give this year a name that will stand out among the rest of your life. The format I use is, “2022 was the year of ______.” Was this a year of professional growth? Did you begin a habit this year that you intend to continue? Was there a theme that ran through the year, such as new experiences or growing what you already have? Write down the name of your year.

Point 2: Gratitude

I think gratitude is the best thing we can ever do. We have to be grateful for what we currently have. It is very easy to look at what other people have and not be thankful for what we have in front of us. Are you healthy right now? Do you have a family around you? Do you have enough to eat? Many people do not have those things. Be thankful for everything that you currently have.

Point 3: Acknowledge Others

Who or what needs to be acknowledged in your life? In the past 12 months, who has stepped up when you needed help? I would recommend doing it month-by-month, in order to be as thorough as possible. What major events happened in each month, and who did them with you? Reach out to those people and thank them for walking through the past year with you.

Summary/Closing Thoughts

We have to win this coming year, and we cannot expect to do better than this year if we are not aware of what this year has held for us. Take some time to reflect on 2022 and begin to plan out how this next year will be even better. Give your all in everything you do, and you will thrive in the coming year!
