What Do All Successful People Have in Common?

Intro

What does it take to have success in life? The first step is to have the correct mindset. All successful people got to where they are because they wanted to achieve something in life. How can we develop a growth mindset? Let’s discuss!

Point 1: The End Goal

Success looks different for everybody. In general, success means growth and achievement, but the details of success will vary from person to person. You can take inspiration and advice from others, but you cannot follow them 100%. The first step of cultivating a growth mindset is to determine the end goal or success in your life. What is the mark you are striving for?

Point 2: Growth Mindset

Once you know your goal, you can begin developing a growth mindset. The growth mindset is the ability to think you can develop and grow. People with a growth mindset believe that skills can be learned and are not satisfied with floating passively through life. They know they can grow and take steps to achieve that growth.

Point 3: Be Hungry Enough for Change

If you want to see growth and success in any area of your life, you need to be hungry enough for change. You are not fixed in your circumstances or past history, but you are aware of your potential. Success is not easy; if it was, everyone would be a millionaire. It takes work to achieve success and you need to have the motivation to push through the challenges.

There will always be excuses for not pressing for your change. People need sleep, but if you really want to watch a movie, you will stay up late to see it. If you are not hungry for change, you will not be willing to sacrifice sleep to achieve it (even if you would make that same sacrifice for a movie). How badly do you want your change? Enough to make sacrifices?

Point 4: Building a Growth Mindset Comes with Determination

If you want something bad enough, you will work hard to get it. When you want your goal enough, you are willing to make sacrifices to achieve success. It is easy to focus on the success of other people, but you probably can’t see what those people have sacrificed in order to achieve that success. If you are determined to succeed, you must dedicate time and resources to striving towards that goal.

Point 5: Perfection is Not the Goal

We are always striving to improve. When we focus making one area of our goal perfect, it is easy to get discouraged. Perfection is not the goal: Growth is the goal. When you focus on the growing instead of the end goal, you can celebrate your minor successes as well as your major ones. Grant yourself the permission to celebrate your growth on its own.

Summary

Your lack of success may be due to your limited thinking. The fact that you have not seen it done before does not mean it cannot be done. Get out of your comfort zone. Try making a change in your life and see if your successes begin to pile up. Once you have a growth mindset, you will not be discouraged with minor failures. As long as you are growing and improving, you will continue to thrive in life.
